1. Who We Are

BreedRisk (breedrisk.com) is a free educational tool that provides breed-specific health risk information for dogs. The site is operated by Dr. Paulo Morouço, DVM, a licensed veterinarian registered with the Ordem dos Médicos Veterinários (Membership No. 4504), based in Portugal.

2. What Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

BreedRisk does not require you to create an account, provide your name, email address, or any other personal identifying information to use the tool.

When you use the health forecast tool, you enter information about your dog — such as species, breed, age, sex, and neuter status. This information is processed locally in your browser to generate your forecast report. It is not transmitted to our servers, stored in any database, or linked to your identity in any way.

2.2 Information collected automatically

When you visit BreedRisk, certain information is collected automatically by our hosting provider and analytics tools:

  • Your IP address (collected by our hosting infrastructure — Vercel Inc.)
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website (how you found us)
  • General geographic location (country or region level — not precise location)

This information is collected for the purpose of understanding how the site is used and improving the user experience. It is not used to identify you personally.

3. Cookies

BreedRisk uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — for the following purposes:

  • Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site. These cookies collect anonymous usage data including pages visited, session duration, and general location.
  • Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to serve contextual advertisements. These cookies may be used to show you ads based on your interests and browsing behaviour across websites that use Google advertising services.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use the BreedRisk health forecast tool, as the tool does not depend on cookies to function.

4. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous information about how visitors use BreedRisk. The data collected includes pages visited, session duration, general geographic location (country or region), device type, and browser type.

This data is processed by Google on servers that may be located outside the European Union. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which provides an adequate level of data protection for transfers from the EU to the US.

5. Google AdSense

BreedRisk displays advertisements served by Google AdSense, an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to BreedRisk and other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to BreedRisk and other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at: adssettings.google.com ↗

BreedRisk does not control the cookies set by Google AdSense and is not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements displayed on the site.

6. How We Use Your Information

The automatically collected information described in Section 2.2 is used solely for the following purposes:

  • To understand how visitors use BreedRisk and improve the site's content and functionality
  • To monitor site performance and diagnose technical issues
  • To serve contextual advertisements via Google AdSense

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We do not use your data to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

7. Data Retention

BreedRisk does not store personal data on its own servers. Analytics data collected via Google Analytics is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Advertising data collected by Google AdSense is governed by Google's own data retention policies.

Server logs maintained by our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) are retained in accordance with Vercel's data retention policy, typically for a period of 30 days.

BreedRisk does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The site is intended for use by adults.
